MIND

"Come to me, all of you who are tired, sick & loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest.
[Take my yoke upon you...] Walk in the way I taught you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
[For the yoke] The WAY I will give you to follow is easy, and the load I will put on you is light."

Spirit (pneuma):

the human spirit that relates to God

Soul (psyche):

the inner life without any regard to God; what all humanity may share, born again or not

Question;

"...can you explain to me the difference between the soul and the spirit again. which one goes to heaven, which one is material and which one is air??"

  • The soul and the spirit are the two primary immaterial parts ascribed to humanity

  • The soul and the spirit are connected, but separable (Hebrews 4:12). The soul is the essence of humanity’s being; it is who we are.

  • The spirit is the immaterial part of humanity that connects with God.

There are two main Christian viewpoints on this.

  1. Trichotomy”, which is the belief that there is a spirit, soul, and body, where the soul and spirit are two distinct entities.

    • The soul is said to be the mind, will, and emotions where we think and feel.

    • Whereas the spirit gives us the ability to have an intimate relationship with God and is made alive and perfect the moment, we are born again.

    • SEE OTHER BUTTON -for significance of THREE across cultures and history

  2.  “Dichotomy”, which is the view that the spirit and soul are synonymous to each other and that soul is just another word for spirit.
