the philosophy that brought this piece to life...

In a world where selfishness is valued,  its important for us to choose to practice good behaviours and model yourself after somone who is admirable .

As we grow from infants to adults, it's our parents, guardians & siblings that we look to as our examples of human behavior and we shape our view of the world based on how we see them live & walk.  As we grow in to teens, it's typically cultural icons, teachers, trend setters & athletes that we desire to be more like.  As we find ourselves in adult hood, we require friends and mentors in our life to help coach us & support us in struggles and celebrate with us in the successes.

But in a world of selfish individuals, Its very difficult to find a suitable mentor.

Jesus was born sometime just before 4 B.C. & grew up in Nazareth, a small village in Galilee, as part of the peasant class. His human father was a carpenter & Jesus became one too; this likely means that their family had lost any agricultural land they they may have owned at some point.

Jesus was raised Jewish & remained deeply Jewish; following the requirements and expectations of his church; he never intended to create a new religion. Instead, he saw himself as acting within his Creator Fathers true plan.  He left Nazareth as a young adult & connected with the prophet John (also his biological cousin), who baptized him in a local river. During his baptism, Jesus likely experienced some sort of divine vision since eye witnesses recorded unexplainable events (ie; ...the heavens opened up, voices spoke..."). Shortly afterwards, he began his public preaching & teachings with the message that the world could be transformed into a "Kingdom of God."

He became a noted teacher and prophet, as well as a supernatural healer: More healing stories are told about Jesus than about any other figure in the Jewish tradition or across history.  He was executed by Roman imperial authority & the Jewish leaders for claiming to be the Messiah & Saviour.

Eyewitnesses, family & his followers claimed to experience him after his death & resurrection, even though most did NOT recognize him at first.  Some speculate that after his resurrection, he stayed on earth for aprox 30 days; continuing to encourage his followers & family, before being 'Taken Up Into The Heavens', as documented by witnesses.

There was also something that changed on a cosmic level when Jesus lived his life here on Earth; but this is much harder to quantify since humanity doesn't operate with a cosmic perspective/outlook.   All of this & there is still a more Spiritual Reason for his existence here on this planet as a human….. But that’s a bigger conversation for another day.  (Coming Blog)

This does not discount the validity of other prophets… but Jesus is the one that makes the most sense to me.  Jesus says that "his way" is the THE way to find a relationship with our Creator; and I believe that That way, THE WAY OF LOVE, can be found in different people all across history, right back to the beginning of time.  The same can be said for the Dark way, the way of life that is rooted in selfish pride, vanity & self obsession; it's all about which wolf we feed.

Mentor is someone who …

Noun - an experienced and trusted adviser.

Verb - advise or train (someone, especially a younger colleague).

  1. Similar:  Adviser, Guide, Confidant, Confidante, Counselor, Consultant, Therapist,

  2. Master of skill/trade/gift, spiritual leader, Rav, Rebbe, Guru, Swami, Maharishi, Acharya

BATTLE OF TWO WOLVES INSIDE ALL OF US...

One is evil.  It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, lies, inferiority and ego.

The other is good.  It is joy, peace, love hope, humility, kindness, empathy & truth.

The wolf that wins?? It's the one that you feed.

The other prophets & leaders across time, seem to fall into one of these two ways of thought; Live THE WAY OF LOVE or live The Way of darkness??  Dialectical behavior therapy taught me that two things can be true at once, just as every leader can easily choose to switch their choice of Way.   Someone can preach Love for nature but lack any respect for human life…. Humans can stand for something Good & still make terrible choices.

Jesus said, ' Just follow me; do what I do & all will be ok.  My way is gentle, kind, peaceful & filled with joy; just stick with me, it'll all be ok.'  Then he went forward in his life to model those exact things.   I believe this was on purpose, so we could look back & witness his choices.

(Matthew 11:28-30 Artist Paraphrase)

That’s what the Gospels in the Bible are; they are eyewitness accounts from Jesus' friends.    So yes, these eyewitness accounts, will have human flaws & bias, but they are consistently sharing the same messages about Jesus' life & sharing his teachings.

This is also why Jesus taught us about Grace & Mercy…. It's truly a gift.

I don’t believe that Jesus was the first prophet or messenger from our Creator and it's debatable weather or not he was the last… but what we are told through eye witness accounts is that Jesus claimed to be a 'game changer'  for humanity.

His life & death here on earth, changed something for us as a species.

He tells us that He was here to pay our 'adoption fee', so we could be included in Creators eternal legacy.   Due to unclear reasons, this price had to be paid for in blood. (Blood Sacrifice & Karmic balance is a universal trend that can be found in many cultures over time - Blog Coming).  His example, can become our map for how to make good choices; His teachings are the cypher to generations of 'telephone-style' mixed-up messages.  His death paid the universal price that we would've had to face on our own; the price being the ultimate death of Body & SOUL.

But when that price was paid by Jesus' sacrifice, we were given a freedom to choose a GOOD & better way.  Our Souls & life eternal depend on our choices & intentions here in this life on earth.  When we choose to walk in a Good Way, we choose a way of LOVE; of life without fear, shame, guilt, overwhelming anger or pains to big for us to handle.  Since things like fear, guilt & shame seem to be programmed into us, we just couldn’t do it by ourselves.    We need to mentor next to someone who knows how.

I think about a scene written by one of my favorite authors, Ted Dekker;  A mother & daughter are being held for judgement in front of their town and loved ones.  There is a ton of characters making terrible choices and the daughter is about to face unbearable punishment, possibly even deadly.  The mother has already been sentenced to lashings for her crime, but not nearly as many as her daughter.  When the time comes, the mother takes her daughters punishment, saves her life, and dies in her place.   As I read this story, I was intensely aware of How Much Love there has to be, for someone to make this choice.  (Girl Behind the Red Rope)

Jesus' death was not only our 'adoption fee', but it was also proof that Creator LOVES us that passionately & deeply.   Jesus said," …when you look at me, you're seeing My Father [Creator]".  This also supports the message he gave that said…"God [CREATOR] IS LOVE". The Creator of universes lovesTheir Creation, humans (specifically, YOU), so much that They didn’t want to spend eternity without you.

They came together to pay for our adoption into the royal family; Now the choice is ours.

We have been given the choice, FREEDOM to choose to transcend the universal laws of karma, ying & yang, death & life. Do we want to be part of a Cosmic, Spiritual, Eternal Family? Not out body's, but our souls; our true identity, the part of us that is made to reflect our Creator's image, this part of us is so much bigger than we may ever understand.

The key to this change is, IT'S OUR CHOICE; no one can make it for us.

Just like any other relationship we enter into in this life, we must choose to take part; it takes the participation of TWO to have a healthy relationship.   Whether it is a marriage or a best friend, we much choose to listen, spend time, share, & return the effort that is being shown to us.   As we are being offered a way of living that promotes empathy & intention, we must work against our generational & cultural programing that tells us we must be selfish to survive.

As we mentor under the LIGHT bringers of our time & culture, it's important to practice deciphering the world around us;  this is discussed further in THE WAY OF LOVE concept. (Coming Soon)

The O.G. Astronaut has many Names.

Although the precise difference between a 'name' and a 'title' may be open to interpretation, There are approximately 198 different names and titles of Jesus in the Bible.

Immanuel ="God is with us"
YHWH- (יהוה = Divine God) Also abbreviated Jah, usually expanded as Yahweh in English.  Signifying a dual-gendered deity, the most common name of God in the Hebrew Bible.

Adonai - (אֲדֹנָי = "My Lord") - explained as a plural of majesty, almost always used to refer to God, (approx. 450 x).
The singular forms adon and adoni ("my lord") are used in the Hebrew Bible as royal titles and for distinguished persons. For example, "God of gods" (elōhê ha-elōhîm, literally, "the gods of gods") and "Lord of lords" (adōnê ha-adōnîm, "the lords of lords")

El ("God"), - it can be understood as the generic "god" and it is usually interpreted and translated as "God", but it is not clear whether these "el"s refer to the deity in general or to the god El in particular.

For Example; El Elyon ="Most High El", El Shaddai = "El of Shaddai", El 'Olam = "Everlasting El", El Hai = "Living El", El Ro'i = "El my Shepherd", El Gibbor = "El of Strength", Gabriel = "Strength of God", Michael ="Who is like God?", Raphael ="God's medicine", Ariel ="God's lion", Daniel ="God's Judgment", Israel ="one who has struggled with God", Ishmael ="God hears"/"God listens"

Elohim ("God"),- (אלהים, ʾĕlōhīm) - Elohim means "divinity" or "deity" and can also be used as "He is the Power (singular) over powers (plural)"

[a] Shaddai ("Almighty") -(אל שדי, ʾel šaday) -  translated as "God Almighty"

Tzevaot ("[of] Hosts") - (צבאות, ṣəḇāʾōṯ, [tsvaot]) - usually translated "Hosts" or "Armies" - The Hebrew word Sabaoth was also absorbed in Ancient Greek (σαβαωθ, sabaōth) =  "Army of angels of God".

Ehyeh ("I Am") - Ehyeh asher ehyeh (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה). - "ehyeh="to be",  the Bible translates the Hebrew as "I Am that I Am" and uses it as a proper name for God.   Also can mean "I will be what I will be" or "I will be who I will be", or "I shall prove to be whatsoever I shall prove to be" or even "I will be because I will be,

Elyon - (עליון) - means "supreme" (as in "Supreme Court") or "Most High" or 'God Most High'.

I remember the day I started looking into different prophets & religions.   I had spent my life being raised, in an evangelical Christian home, believing that Jesus was God.

I walked away from my beliefs because my life was impacted by flawed humans.  I couldn’t see how one man in our past, could make any difference; even if he did hold supernatural power of any kind.  Over my lifetime journey, so far, I've made friends from many different walks; Muslim friends, atheist friends, Wiccan friends, Buddhist friends, Indigenous friends, etc...

Through getting to know others,  I saw that every belief had different prophets, teachers & leaders; and they all seemed to preach similar messages.    I saw common ideas & threads in their beliefs; for example - "treat each other better,  take care of nature so it can continue to take care of us, and There Is A Higher Power."

I started to realize that the beliefs I had been raised with, held truths; just like the other belief systems.   As I spent some time researching different gods & prophets, I started to realize that there are many things in this universe that we cannot understand.   We are surrounded by things that affect us, but we act as if they don’t exist…. Atoms, frequencies, light particles, ….. Spirits??

Just like wind in the trees, we are moved and effected by these things, but the force that moves us can't always be seen by the human eye.

After years of training & experience in behavioral studies, I started to see patterns of behavior in different leaders, teachers & prophets.   I found positive patterns in the behaviors of honorable leaders & teachers; they promote personal growth, humility, kindness to others and a better treatment of our planet.   But there was also an opposing pattern, one that works against the Good Way and, instead, leans into the darkness.   There is a history of selfish teachers displaying proud, power hungry intentions; and leaders who subjugate followers & freely scoff at the value of life.   As I looked at the lives & choices of many different teachers, prophets & leaders, I could clearly see their humanity but I also saw the Higher Power & Their divine message.  The beautiful message about humanity's value, shines through all of the flaws & cracks we humans make; we cannot stop the good news.

I began to believe that THIS is the dilemma that the entire Universe faces….. Good > Evil

...light > dark...

On my own individual level, I remember a time when I had just taken an interest in a small business that my friend talked about;  I went to a teaching conference where they discussed the value of a good Mentor.  I learned that science has proven that we take on the character traits of the 5 people we spend the most time with.  That made me take an inventory of my closest acquaintances…. That Sunday, while at church, this topic was still fresh in my mind, the pastor taught us about someone in the bible that spent 6 Months learning & growing; "apprenticing" with the teachings of the prophets that had come before him.  The bible called it mentoring with The Spirit.

This 'Rabbit Hole' was very enlightening for me.

I re-evaluated my closest friends and contacts, I re-examined my boundaries & friendships, I thought about who I WANTED to be, and I started looking for a MENTOR.   I wanted to learn from & model myself after someone who was Kind, Strong, Humble, Patient, Wise, Generous, Thoughtful, Peaceful, Empathetic, Trust Worthy, Creative & Adventurous.   As I learned from different leaders & teachings along the way, there was ever only ONE person who met all these standards for me - Jesus.   So many others, held some of the qualities I listed above, but no one held them ALL as completely & wholly as the man who was JESUS.    This was the beginning of my Mentorship.

Jesus became my cipher for every tough decision & every question I had.  Just like when I wanted to get to know my close friends better, I had to spend time getting to know Jesus.  As I studied who he was, I read about his life, his messages, his interactions, his friends, his stories, his family, …… I began to feel Incredibly close to this man of many names & titles.   I'm still learning from this beautiful human everyday.  The way he lived his life & the way he treated others has been an inspiration to me.  The way he interacted with others & who he chose to keep close to him, helped guide me through setting new boundaries in my relationships.  The way he looked to his higher power (who he called 'Father'. - also the same word in Egyptian for Creator) for support & strength, the way he opposed a cruel government & a selfish world view.   The way he modeled moderation, trust worthiness, care, empathy & respect in everything he did…..

These are all the things that made me want to be his apprentice & mentee

He was a brilliant teacher, counselor, therapist, psychologist, ambassador & leader; but also a thoughtful friend, considerate brother & loyal companion.  He had a sense of humor, he was sarcastic when frustrated, he struggled with anxiety & liked to mess with his friends.

Not only do I want to know him more, but I also want to be More like him.

This began my next concept; THE Way of Love.

THE STORY
BEHIND

 O.G. ASTRONAUT

COLD CASE INVESTIGATOR USES SCIENCE...

...To try and disprove Jesus & Resurection

Although believers and evidence exist, there remains the question: is there a God? Cold case detective J. Warner Wallace has pursued the question, applying the same procedures he used to solve cold cases.   He started this investigation into God's existence many years ago as an atheist. But even then, he had to accept something beyond the natural because he already believed the universe had a beginning before space and time.
